Migrant Health Service Inc. (MHSI) is a private non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Minnesota and based in Moorhead, Minnesota.  MHSI has been providing access to primary health care for migrant and seasonal farm workers and their families since 1973 in Minnesota and North Dakota. 

MHSI utilizes a number of models to access services including:  nurse based health centers (4 seasonal stationary centers, 2 mobile units and 3 year round centers); contract with area health providers, targeted chronic disease activities; contract for camp visits with physician assistants; contract with area health professionals to provide dental assessments/referrals, physical assessments/referrals and vision/hearing exams at the migrant school programs, employment of bilingual staff and establishment of a lay education program.

In addition to accessing primary health care for farm workers and their families using bilingual staff/materials, MHSI provides:

o bilingual advocacy services for women and children who are victims of battering
   and/or sexual assault;
o bilingual case management, home visits, and home base referrals;
o bilingual lay education program working with the diabetic patients with expansion 
   to cardiovascular and depression;
o extensive diabetes program through the Midwest Diabetes Collaborative with  
   plans to move to cardiovascular and depression;
o extensive prenatal education/referral services available in Spanish and English;
o extended hour clinics, camp rounds, migrant school screening;
o bilingual health care staff at each center;
o use of two mobile health units
